I chose the gingko tree as my bio-inspiration this week. It’s always been one of my favorite leaf shapes and I remember their distinct smell from the seeds.
I often find myself returning to the fan like shape of the gingko when I draw or think of a design, it reminds me of summer and feels personal but also I know many others have different connections to gingko trees as well which feels like a rich opportunity for connection in inspiration.
I thrifted this amazing encyclopedia of plants earlier this year and used it fo a reference.
inspiration from the shape of the leaf:
Study properties of how it resists pollution, the resilience of the plant, also the care needed for it
A tree of temperate climates, it resists pollution and seems to have outlived any pests it may have once had. It does, however, need shelter from strong winds and does best in deep, fertile soil.
