Exploration #1: Exploring fabrication through the subject of time

As part of my explorations in exploring concepts and building for the class Time I also wanted to experiment with materials that I thought I might use for my thesis that match both color scheme and themes.
This included:
- 3D Printing a clock base and hands
- Loom weaving for a hanging tapestry
- Wire twisting for the hands
Learnings included:
- Having materials organized made the process much easier
- I prefer using youtube videos for learning in combination with manuals
- Both projects ended up being easier than I thought to prototype something that I can test out quickly
- Working with fiber, wire, and plastic can be frustrating without the correct tools

Last semester I took the class 100 Days of Making and used drawing as my medium and really enjoyed it. I spent the last two weekly using drawing in combination with making and learning
I used drawing for brainstorming musical ideas for thesis and then expanded on one that I might prototype in class this semester by starting to map musical scale notes around a circle

For this drawing to explore recycling used materials and also using scents in my work I wanted to do a project of repairing candles that I had tunneled but didn’t know how to repair
I went to Michaels got some candle wicks and looked up the basics as well as located tools around the house to accomplish the task

I also used drawing to brainstorm interactions for the Museum of Food and Drink’s exhibit on Flavor and citral as a part of a group presentation for BioDesigning the Future of Food
- This type of drawing helped me figure out questions and interactions in a quick way

I went through the Book of Shaders and created some p5.js sketches so that I could have a template to work off of in the p5.js editor as I revisit a project that used MIDI signaling to control shader options that I’d like revisit as part of my thesis
