Display of the invitation

My NYC experience invitation was to Central Park at the Bethesda Terrace. It’s been a while since I’ve been to Central Park and I hadn’t spent time in the particular area much before so this was a perfect one to get. I picked a day with nice weather when I had some time between classes to go.

Invitation opened up with message and painting of a turtle inside.

The invitation was a pop up card made from paper and painted with a message inside. Numbers and arrows demonstrated how to open the invitation up and created for such a fun opening experience. The message included instructions and a location for where to go:

I invite you to walk through the Central Park – The Arcade and take a look of the lake next to the fountain! Happy Wednesday! 🙂

The fountain

While I was there I also:

• Sketched in a notebook
• Listened to a musician playing guitar and seeing covers while sitting on the fountain
• Ordered and at a crepe at the stand there for lunch!
• Went inside the Arcade structure to see the artwork and architecture

This was a recharging and accessible experience that helped me find a new place to go to in the city when I went to spend time outdoors. The invitation is now also sitting on my desk as artwork. Thank you to my ITP classmate who designed this experience!
